Un-Intuitive Eating

Hey everyone!! How are you?

Today has been non-stop….I started out with a payroll system training class at work, some paperwork catch-up, and then I had to drive about 30 minutes to do a lunchtime presentation at a local business. For the 2nd day in a row, I knew lunch would be late, so I grabbed a pre-lunch snack on my way….

My lunch presentation went well…it was for a wellness program for a small, local business. About 20 people showed up, which was a great turnout. The topic was Healthy Lifestyle Changes to Improve Cholesterol. We had a great, interactive discussion – fun time!

On my way back to work at nearly 2:00, I stopped by Moe’s and had a vegetarian burrito…the Art Vandalay- love it!! It was so good that I definitely overate. I ate nearly the entire burrito, + about half of the chips….I was satisfied after half the burrito…but, it was so good, I kept eating anyway. You can teach Intuitive Eating and totally believe in it and practice it well most of the time…but, nobody’s perfect! I was definitely over-full after lunch. Life is a learning process.

This afternoon, I met with my great co-workers, Heather and Chad, to put some finishing touches on the plans for our new session of weight loss classes that begins on September 14. We had a productive meeting and made some progress with the schedule/class agenda.

Tonight was our monthly girls’ night dinner. There were 4 of us tonight- we all happen to be dietitians…Sandy and Brenda, who work in pediatrics, and Heather (my co-worker and friend) and I. We ended up at Bonefish Grille….I had a delicious salmon and asparagus salad + an amazing glass of sangria – what a perfect meal.

Dinner was delicious and the company was great- always a fun night of discussion!

I’m so happy to be home now…Anthony just got home from a night of fishing- I can’t wait to go spend some time with him. See you tomorrow.

  2. I’ve been seeing a lot of those Vivanno cups around blogs lately…don’t think there’s any around Atlanta. I may be wrong.

    I find it funny how Moe’s actually has better burritos than a lot of Mexican restaurants. Their one salsa – I cannot recall the name – I swear has crack added in it, so good.

  3. We sadly don’t have Moe’s here, which is very unfortunate for me since that burrito looks amazing! Part of eating intuitively, is making little slips like that though right? If I had that burrito right in front of me, it would be all gone =P

    Ugh, and that salmon dinner looks disgustingly good 😉 You’ve definitely been having some good food today!

  5. I love the veggie burrito. I’ve been known to carry on eating when I know I’m full, but when something’s just that good I don’t wanna waste it 🙂

  6. Thanks for the reminder that intuitive eating (as well as life in general) is a work in progress. I think it’s so important to remember that we don’t have to be “perfect” to be very healthy & happy!

  8. I also want to thank you for the real-life reminders that on some days intuitive eating is easier said than done, and that being healthy does not necessarily mean perfectly 100% of the time. Thank you for sharing your real-life with us!

  9. I would have to say that when it comes to eating well, burritos like that are definitely one of my biggest weaknesses. It is amazing how you might think that a veggie burrito would be super healthy, but when you count several servings of rice and a 200+ calorie tortilla, plus all the other things, it quickly passes 800-900+ calories.

    I’m not trying to criticize what you ate… I’m saying I am right there with you. When I go to places like that, I have started wrapping up half of the burrito before I even start eating to try to keep from finishing off the whole thing.

    I like how you didn’t let the big burrito get you down, and made up for it with a very healthy, light dinner.

    I love Moe’s! Too bad the one where we live is FILTHY. I refuse to go there anymore.

    I also have a Bonefish Grill in my mall, but can you believe it, I’ve never eaten there? Maybe I should, judging by your pic! 🙂

  12. I love how you admitted that you over-ate. Even though we know to stop when we’re full, it’s easier said than done sometimes. We’re not perfect! And you’re right, it’s a constant learning process.
