Summer Fruits

I was craving fruit this morning. I decided to fill a bowl:

  • ripe mango
  • juicy plum
  • blueberries
  • raspberries

What a simple, perfect breakfast.

When, I only have fruit for breakfast, I’m usually ready for a protein snack a couple of hours later, so I’m packing a Fage total with honey for my morning snack….the total Fage is definitely higher in fat, but sometimes, it is worth it, and I love the texture.

How is your Thursday? Mine is pretty busy…I have diabetes nutrition consults at the hospital this morning, a little break in the afternoon, and my presentation on Eating Well for Optimum Health at the local National Kidney Foundation tonight.

Have a great day!

  1. Your fruit bowl looks amazing. I’ve never tried the Fage yogurts, they’re a little too expensive over here.

  2. Oh how I will miss summer fruit!! But I’m excited for fall apples, they are my favorite fruit.

I am having a decent Thursday so far, and I’m about to go outside and read my book by the pool! I am taking full advantage of not having a job 🙂 I know it won’t last long.

  3. My Thursday is just starting (I’m a West Coaster), but so far, so good! Your fruit looks delicious. I’ve never had the full fat Fage, but I am dying to try it…

  4. Gorgeous fruit today!!!

    I love Fage… I haven’t had it in a while!

  5. I love mangoes but have no idea how to choose them. Any tips?!

    • I go by the texture. If the mango flesh gives slightly when you apply a little pressure- it is usually ripe. If it feels completely firm, I pass. I also usually smell it- dont’ know if that really helps but I feel like I can smell the ripe mango smell when it is ripe.

  6. Looks delicious- got to make the most of summer fruits while they are around! I LOVE the Fage twin pots… I have only tried the 2% though- are the regular ones good?

  7. I LOVE Fage w/ honey. Or any Greek yogurt with honey, for that matter 😛 I hope you enjoy it! The fresh fruit looks lovely as well!

    Have a wonderful Thursday 🙂

That fruit is so pretty…I’ll be sad when all the summer fruits are gone.

My Thursday is GREAT because I’m off tomorrow!!

Woo hoo for a long weekend!!

  9. Hi – new reader – just wondering — do you make your own sweet potato fries or buy pre-made? I would love to have a new healthy side-dish and was wondering what brand to buy. THANKS! (p.s. i came to your site because i was looking for advice about “throwing out my scale” — I’m very excited about the idea!

    • Hey Jessica! Thanks for reading!!

I don’t even own a scale – so I’m with you on that thought!

When it comes to sweet potato fries – I do both. Last night, I made homemade baked sweet potato fries- just sliced up the potatoes, placed them on a cookie sheet sprayed with a little cooking spray, drizzled with just a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper and baked for about 25 minutes. I sometimes use a frozen brand, Alexia- that I love – I’ll share a photo in my later post.

      Thanks again for reading!

  10. GORGEOUS fruits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. How did you plate your fruits like that? Mine never turn out that gorgeous! Love the color combo too!

Enjoy your Thursday as well 😀

  12. What I miss most when summer ends is fruit that looks as good as your breakfast bowl did today!

  13. Hi,

I just read through all your posts and have learned so much! I found out about you on a comment you left at the eat like me blog. Question: I can tell you don’t count calories, but what are your eating guidlines? For example, Cristin at Eat Like Me recomends and follows the Food Pyramid guide, which have been very helpful. Thanks.

  14. I love your fruit! 🙂 There is nothing better than a nice bowl of summer fruit…

  15. m’mmm nothing says summertime like fresh berries!
