Dietitians eat bacon

Well, I can’t speak for all of them, but this dietitian does. Certainly not everyday, and not even “often”, but occasionally, what a treat!

Thanks for your great comments on my morning post about simple eating. I loved reading your healthy eating tips!

I survived my 3 group exercise classes today – 6 am Sculpt, afternoon Sculpt, and afternoon Rock Bottom – all strength training classes- my muscles may rebel against me tomorrow. I haven’t taught 3 classes on one day in probably 10 years!

My work day was a relatively calm and normal day. Lunch was a Subway roast beef on wheat, almost all the veggies, and yummy new spicy chipotle Sunchips – very good for having no lunch plan.

Anthony met me at the gym after work. After my classes and his workout, we headed to a local “grinders” shop – they have great sandwiches and pizza- I was tired and couldn’t make up my mind, but I wanted “comfort food” – I ordered a BLT on wheat with fries…so good, and such a nice treat after a long day. (I ate half of the sandwich and most of the fries and was completely satisfied without being stuffed).

You know, I totally believe that it is okay to sometimes use food as comfort – but it’s important to realize that food won’t solve our problems and overeating or bingeing usually leads to more problems. But, without overeating, in my opinion, there is a place for comfort food in our lives.

  1. I think it’s totally ok to have comfort foods in moderation too. My favorite? Ummm, I have to many to count, but off the top of my head is mac&cheese. Anything with cheese and pasta. Let’s leave it at that πŸ˜€

  4. I love a good BLT, especially with avocado! I almost ordered a BLT with salmon and cheddar at my thesis defense celebration meal πŸ™‚ I ordered the burger instead, which is my favorite comfort meal!

  5. Normal eating does include eating food for comfort. Like you said, we should still keep in mind that food isn’t the solution. For me, my food cravings depend on my mood. Most of the time, it’s something sweet though.

    Love this post and also the previous one. With all the different studies about what to eat and not, it can get overwhelming.

    For me, comfort foods usually involve some kind of cheese. Or, just cheese on its own, haha! I crave salty foods more than sweet foods.

  8. Love the post title πŸ™‚ Haha I am WEIRD on the comfort foods front. Mine include pumpkin, grapes, and big salads. Butternut squash fries, too.

  9. I too adore bacon! I love anything cheesey and greasy as comfort food. It is something I am working on, because I definitely don’t need comforting as often as I was enjoying these foods… πŸ˜€

  11. I totally agree! I like bacon too, but it’s only so often with a big brunchie breakfast, yum! Nothing like the real thing πŸ™‚ My favorite comfort foods are pasta and any kind of dessert with peanut butter!
