Weekend Warriors: We love it!

My Saturday morning started with a 6 am alarm clock – when I first woke up I was dreaming about spending time with my 3-year old nephew Owen!!  After 2 snoozes (or 3) – I stumbled out of bed, threw on my workout clothes and headed to our Weekend Warrior class. If you’d like to see our last class, check out my Strong Women, Weekend Warriors post. It is basically a 2 1/2 hour boot camp style class taught by my friend Tammye, amazing personal trainer and group exercise instructor extraordinaire with me as her assistant instructor.

I grabbed a quick breakfast to-go….a chocolate vita-top with a spread of crunchy almond butter, coffee, and plenty of water.

Class starts at 8 am- we meet at Tammye’s gym and walk over to this great park for our workout. But, first a “before” group shot – Tammye took this photo – so I’m in it! I’m on the far right in the front row with my “Feel Like a Million” green shirt! We were all energized and ready to go (right, ladies?)!

It was a beautiful morning in the park….

But there was no time to enjoy the scenery…we started right off with a warm-up around the greenway trail….speed walking, jogging, squat walking, side shuffles, skipping, active stretches…just to name a few.

Partner pushups with side plank + clap…

HPIM1637

Sprint and backpedal….

HPIM1639

Jump rope….

HPIM1641

Tug-of-war partner rows…

HPIM1643

We did a relay race…3 teams – these guys were the winners!! Good job!

HPIM1649

Which meant the 2 losing teams had to do 20 star jumps….”I’m a star!”…..

HPIM1654

I love this shot of Tammye leading the whole group in triceps dips….

HPIM1656

So, in addition to all this FUN….we did some ladder drills, medicine ball drills, more squats and lunges, some ab work, some fire-walkers, suicides….and many, many more!! After 2 hours outside, we headed back to the gym…..

HPIM1659

Where we had some snacks…bananas, apple juice, and granola bars (quickly)…..

HPIM1660

And, started on about 30 more minutes of Pilates and stretching.

HPIM1663

And, our “after” shot with our fearless leader Tammye front and center – Love all the sweat, girls!

HPIM1664

Tammye – amazing job as usual!! Ladies- great job- you are awesome!

After our workout, I took my sweaty self grocery shopping and treated myself to this….

HPIM1667

Now, I’m home….groceries put away…I’m still sweaty, but I enjoyed a great simple lunch of tomato, basil, and mozzarella on a flat-out wrap with some cantaloupe and raspberries, and more water!

HPIM1669

I hope you are having a great Saturday so far!! My sweet husband took my car for a brake job this morning, now he’s working on mowing the lawn and weeding…so I’m going to get to work on some cleaning and laundry!

See you later!

Oh- P.S. for my sister – watermelon is a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, lycopene….check out this website – World’s Healthiest Foods – Owen will be good- he’ll decide to eat something else later I’m sure!
