As a Registered Dietitian, let me acknowledge that eating healthy isn’t always easy. Sure, there are things that we can all do to set up our environments and plan ahead to have healthy options available….but, in the busyness of daily life, I think it is important to remember that it takes real work and can be a challenge.
I’m a little sleep-deprived from an awesomely fun weekend with family and friends…and, it is days like today that fast food and high-fat options don’t seem like such a bad idea…when we’re tired or stressed, it is easier for our usual good judgement to go out the window! So, if you ever feel that way, know that dietitians are human and we understand. I often wonder how I would manage healthy meals when I have kids…right now, work, time with Anthony, 3 dogs, family, friends, teaching aerobics, taking care of the house, volunteering, newlywed group, etc…seems to keep me pretty busy. So, for you moms out there…I really respect you for what you do!
I tried my 2nd container of Oikos this morning for a snack…this time – honey flavor- and it was pretty good. I still prefer Fage though.
Lunch was a salad that Anthony’s stepmom, Peggy made for me last night with grilled chicken, and I added more tomato, cucumber, onion, boiled egg, and almonds from the salad bar at work….with some Kashi TLC crackers.
I’m so happy to be home to relax…tonight my plan is to cook a simple dinner, relax with Anthony, and catch up on some blog reading!
What are the things in your life that makes eating healthy a challenge?
Have a great night!
