Remembering to slow down

Do you ever find yourself just rushing through your day? Sometimes I feel like I am always in a hurry, and I really need to remind myself to slow down.

I noticed it this morning as I got up early to do Morning Flow from Yoga Download…I found myself glancing at the clock to see how much time was left because I knew I had to hurry to eat breakfast and get ready for work….that got my attention that I need to focus more on slowing down….I don’t want to live my life rushing through everything!

Yoga was great though, especially as I tried to focus on the poses and breathing and not think about time. Then I had a delicious breakfast – multi-grain English muffin with almond butter and blueberry preserves and my favorite hazelnut coffee with cream…


Do you ever find yourself rushing through life? What techniques do you use to remember to slow down?

    Hmmm…rushing through life. Yes, that seems to be my common theme! Haven’t figured out the slow it down part yet; I’m open to any ideas!!!

  2. I am the definition of a women who rushes way too much. In fact, I am sadly known for my inability to relax, and my boyfriend bought me the book “Slowing Down to the Speed of Life” two Christmas’s ago. Since I read that book my life has changed tremendously. Now I really try to stay in the moment and not think about what I have to do or how little time I have to do it. I would suggest the book, it’s so great. My friends also tell me to do some yoga, which I’ve yet to start. I started pilates, which is still relaxing, and a step towards yoga!

  3. I find that I function in a fast-paced lifestyle relatively well, and when there’s nothing to do, I get restless and am less energized overall. Yet, deep down, I know that I should slow down a bit.

  4. I often find myself rushing through the day, but I find it helps when I step back and take a look at the big picture of life.

      I agree with you, Linda…sometimes I love my busy, fast-paced life…but then, I find myself rushing around even when I don’t have to.

      Jenny – great suggestion – sometimes we all need to step back, look at the big picture, and remember to live in the present!

  5. I have the same issue- especially since I work from home. I find that whenever I’m doing something non-work related (like yoga) during traditional work hours, I have a harder time focusing and I actually feel like I’m doing something wrong! This is a great reminder post! Thanks Angie!
